The ‘Great Resignation’ in 2021 saw workers voluntarily quit their jobs at historic rates. 18% of workers who responded to a PwC survey said they were very or extremely likely to switch to a new employer within the next year.
Job satisfaction was low among UK workers who were not in management positions, with only 19% stating they were very satisfied with their role. 67% of those who possess skills that are in high demand reported feeling satisfied with their job, compared to only 52% of those who do not possess in-demand skills.
Kevin Ellis, chairman and senior partner at PwC UK, said: “Employees will vote with their feet if their expectations on company culture, reward, flexibility and learning are not being largely met.”
How using the Development Zone can make a difference
Most employees want to do well at their jobs. More importantly, many want to improve the range of their skills and abilities to rise in the ranks and become even better at what they do. A learning and development program allows employees to upskill and better themselves.
The Development Zone has been created to equip insurance professionals with the skills and knowledge required to make advances in their careers, including communication skills, business skills and specific regulatory modules relating to the insurance industry. The Development Zone feature enables insurance companies to upload custom content, allowing them to create modules tailored to their specific needs and enhance the skills of their employees.
The Development Zone offers versatility and flexibility
Using the Development Zone removes obstacles to training such as being in a remote location, and loss of time spent travelling and staying at hotels. This also lowers the cost of training for the company. Because courses are stored online, employees can access these courses and any other learning materials 24/7 from any device. This gives the employee the ability to refresh on topics or complete learning at their pace whilst freeing up managers and supervisors.
Foster your company culture with the Development Zone
Company culture plays a significant role in employee retention and turnover. A culture of learning within a company can ensure loyalty and retain valuable employees. Courses on the Development Zone can set guidelines for communications, meetings, and leadership and allows insurance firms an effective way to ensure standardisation across all their employees. This creates unity within the organisation. These courses can also increase workplace confidence as E-learning removes barriers to education and brings information directly to the employees. Supervisors can also allocate learning and observe their team's progress in completing courses.
