Broker Expo 2018 saw representatives from across the industry convene at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, to learn from, engage with and enjoy a wide range of presentations across multiple topics.
I had the pleasure of chairing a panel discussion on ‘Commission, transparency and driving value’, which was hugely enjoyable.
I was joined on the panel by Martyn Holman, CEO, Holman Advisory; Martyn Denney, Managing Director, Aon; Peter Blanc, Group CEO, Aston Lark; and Sara Fardon, Managing Director, Willis Towers Watson Networks.
Each panel member contributed wholeheartedly, and as a result, the level of discussion was extremely productive. It was reassuring the see people lining the edges of the seating area, to hear what industry leaders had to say, and it is a mark of the quality of the event, that such a discussion took place and was so well supported.
Later in the day, I also gave a presentation on the parallels between the IDD and the Hippocratic Oath, which was well received.
To conclude, I was delighted to see the industry rally behind an event which was geared towards professional development. In a climate where the IDD will increasingly challenge insurance professionals to demonstrate minimum necessary knowledge across eight core topics, it was rewarding to see so many attendees were keen to learn, which is in stark contrast to some professional exhibitions.
I am already looking forward to Broker Expo 2019.
